Last BLOG!

Hey Everyone! This is our last week of computers :( That really stinks! Speech is going to be so different and giving all of those speeches is not going to be fun. Thanksgiving was awesome. I loved the five days off! Christmas break is coming up too. We just have to get through all of our finals first. But this year it seems extra long so thats always a good thing. The project we have right now about our life looks kinda cool i guess. it is a lot of work though. Hopefully I get it finished by Friday. There is that Waterstreet Concert on Saturday and I am going to it. Their music sounded really good when it was played at lunch that one day so I'm excited! Well, good luck with finals everybody!! I can't wait until they're all done

Winter Picture

Winter Time

I love winter! The best things about winter are the snow and Christmas. During the winter, we get several breaks from school and can even get more days off because of snow days. Winter is my favorite season because of the cold weather. I don't really like summer because it gets too hot. Winter is also the only season when you can go sledding because of the snow. I don't have a favorite winter memory because there are many to choose from. Winter is great because Christmas is right in the middle of it and is my favorite holiday. 

Newscast

This week we have to blog about the Newscast we made in class with a group. My group was Kaitlyn, Jenna, and I. We did our newscast about the voting system in America and about the tally at the end of the election. Our newscast was pretty easy to do. Once we got started it got easier. The time limit was easy to go over. Ours was a lot longer than the time limit it was supposed to be. I think the hardest thing about the newscast was to attach the video to our actual newscast. 

Thankful

I am thankful for many things I have in my life. I am very thankful for my parents who give me all the opportunities I have. I am thankful for all of my siblings. I am very thankful for my friends who I see everyday at school. I am thankful that I can go to a good school and live in a good area that isn't very dangerous. Living in the United States is a big thing to be thankful for because we live in a free country. I am especially thankful to God for giving me all of these things. 

Political Cartoon

This is a political cartoon of Sarah Palin and John McCain with a voter. I think this cartoon pretty much explains itself. It is funny because underneath it all, Sarah Palin went along with whatever John McCain said or did. Even if this isn't completely true, it seemed like she was just a person helping him to win the office. This cartoon depicts it perfectly.

Invention

This week we have three new blogs. This is the first one. We are supposed to tell what we would invent if we could, what it would look like, etc. I decided that I would invent a clock that could stop time for however long you wanted it to. This way I would have more time to do homework, watch tv, and do other things after practice every night. This invention would be really helpful. It's a great invention.

This is a very inspirational picture at the Olympics in Beijing this year. It is because it was such a close race. Michael Phelps did get eight medals including this event.

Lesson Learned

We have to blog about a story. It has to be a story that we learned a lesson from. And the lesson has to be a critical one. I chose this one-Two years ago in eighth grade we had to read Tom Sawyer. We had about a month to read it, but i left it to the last three days to finish the book. It was a pretty long book and spent three nights just reading. It took up a lot of time and I didn't enjoy the book at all because I procrastinated. I learned that it is better to plan ahead and get homework done early rather than late.

Scary Movie

We had to do a new project in computer class using the podcast tool on the mac computers. I had never used this before so it was all new. We had to choose a scary movie to write a summary about and then to talk into the speaker about and record our summary. I chose the movie called The Village. I haven't seen it since I was in sixth grade but I guess I thought it was pretty scary. It was about a community of people living in a small secluded village and think the forests surrounding them are filled with creepy monsters. They haven't left the village for decades. The project was good because it was around Halloween time.

The Upcoming report card

I am not too excited for the upcoming report card. Most of my classes are good but there are a few that are really frusterating. One of my classes is awful because the grade never ever ever goes up. It will go down one percentage point at a time and the teacher's quizzes are absolutely impossible. I have a different teacher who won't update my grades no matter how many times I remind him so hopefully he does that before grades go out! Oh well I tried as much as I could so what happens will happen I guess.

10 Things I want to do in my lifetime

This week we have a new different kind of blog we have to write. We have to write at least ten things and no more than twenty five things that we want to accomplish in our lifetime. This was hard to think of that many. 1)I want to visit Egypt. 2)I want to become a dentist. 3)I want to run a marathon. 4)I want to meet Michael Phelps. 5)I want to move to Seattle. 6)I want to qualify for state for swimming by my senior year and do well. 8)I want to get married, have a big family eventually. 9)I want to have grea memories in college. 10)I want to swim in college. 11)I want to fry an egg on the sidewalk when its hot enough outside 12)I want to adopt a child 13)I want to visit Ireland and New York City. 14)I want to do something great for the world that will have a good impact on people's lives.

We have a new project that we're supposed to blog about in our computer class. We have to make an iPhoto project. We have to put 20 pictures in a sort of collage. When we play the final movie we will be able to see them in order. Also, at least ten of the pictures have to be letters that spell out our first and last name. The E in my first name fot he project is a torn orange peel. It was a pretty easy project and wasn't hard to follow.

For this blog we have to go to the logopeoria.com website and vote for our favorite new logo. The logo will be the new symbol for our city so its kind of important that people have an input. I chose the second logo on the top row. It said city of peoria. This was written in brown. Then, there is a picture of a tall city building. It looks like a building that could be in downtown peoria. There is a sun shining in the corner. There is also a small river winding down the side of the logo.

It is October now and Halloween is coming up. This week we are supposed to blog about our favorite halloween costume. At my grade school halloween was a big thing. Every year we dressed up and had a halloween party and that day of school was pretty much a blow off day. I think my favorite costume was when my friend and I dressed up as Thing 1 and Thing 2 in seventh grade. We wore red sweatshirts and sweatpants and painted a number one and a number 2 on the front of the shirts. We also wore huge blue wigs. It was a cool costume

Newsletter Project II

Hey everyone! We are still working on those newsletter projects about homecoming week and the weekend and stuff. I am working with Tricia Shadid and Kaitlyn Schlink. We have written three of our four articles. Our articles are about the homecoming week, the pep rally, and the game and dance so far. For our fourth article we are going to interview a few different people and put quotes in our newsletter. It looks really good so far. We have about six or seven pictures on it so far. It is due tomorrow so hopefully we finish it in time.

Physical Goal

Hey everyone! this is out last goal that we have to write about from the mission statement thing in the planner. They were all kinda weird and hard to write 75 words about. This time we have to write about a physical goal for the year. I play basketball in the winter and I swim in the fall. So, I guess my goal for those two sports is just to do my best. And another goal of mine is to not get hurt, especially during swim season. Another goal of mine is to just eat healthy. And have a healthy lifestyle.

Intellectual Goal

Hey everybody! Hope you all had good weekends. Mine was really fun! Tomorrow is Monday though which kinda stinks but oh well. It is homecoming week so that will be fun. Tomorrow is college/gradeschool shirt day. Ok so we're supposed to blog about our intellectual goal this week. Lit is definitely my hardest class with Mr. Laird as the teacher. We had a test on Friday that I'm pretty sure I did not do very well on. I guess my goal is just to study for all of my tests. Its also to do all my homework and keep up in all of my classes.

Newsletter Project

Hey everyone, we have a new assignment in our computer class. It is a newsletter about the upcoming homecoming activities. We get to choose our own groups. There are three people in each group. Each person will have to write a small article about something going on during the homecoming week. My group hasn't started yet, but I think it will be a fun project. We have some good ideas and can't wait to get started. It might be kind of hard to get started on the project, but once we get going I think it will get easier. This project seems much easier thant he past ones we did like the keynote one.

Emotional Goal

Hey, Our new assignment in class is to write about our emotional goal for the new school year. We are supposed to base it off of the mission statement in our planner. It says to honor the sanctity of human life, of the individual, or God, and of the mission of Peoria Notre Dame High School. It also says to strive to develop our school community and each person in it. My goal for this year is to do these things that the planner at Peoria Notre Dame says.

Saint Powerpoint Project

I think this project is much easier than some of the other projects we have been doing. The Keynote project, for example, is much more challenging to figure out than this powerpoint project. Today I finished putting all of my information into the slides and finished adding all of the transitions from slide to slide. For some reason I am having trouble copy and pasting pictures onto my slides though. Whenever I go to paste them the web address of the picture comes up instead of the picture itself. Hopefully I can get that figured out. I like this project because I understand more of what I am doing.

Spiritual Goal about Mission Statement

Hey everyone! The new assignment we got was to write a spiritual goal for ourselves based on the mission statement in our planners. The mission statement reads "The purpose of Peoria Notre Dame High School is to nurture the spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of our students by: Teaching the Catholic faith and leading students to be Disciples of Christ and Teaching the arts and sciences in a climate of academic inquiry." After reading this my spiritual goals are to take interest in my churh history class this year and learn something that I didn't know about the Church or about God that I didn't know before.

Storyboard

In computer class, we all have an assignment to do with the Keynote program on our mac computers. We were told to choose a song and complete a storyboard for it. The storyboard has to be one and a half to two minutes long at least. I chose the song "So Small" by Carrie Underwood. So far, it has been pretty easy to think of pictures to put on each slide. This part was easy, but I am a little nervous for the part where we actually have to put in all of the transitions and add in the music. The finished project should look pretty good though. The project has definitely taught me something about the new computers. I had never used a program like keynote before and it is something very different. Overall, the class is still fun and keeps me busy.

Welcome to my blog!

Hey. Welcome to my blog. I am making this blog because it is an assignment for my computer class this year. At first, I thought making a blog would be difficult, but as it turns out, it was really pretty simple. We have done a few other projects like a paper about banned books and a few spread sheets. Overall I am somewhat enjoying the class, but I don't understand the project we are doing right now. We have to take a song and make a kind of movie to go along with it.
